Grave of 2nd lieutenant Smirnov
Inscription goes as follows:
"Junior lieutenant Smirnov Nikolai Ivanovich. 1915-1941. From family
and friends"

Text says:
"Makitov Magomet Ushakovich. Born 12.1.1920 in Gundelen, Elbrus area,
KBASSR*
Machine gunner in reconnaissance company,67th Marine Brigade, Karelian front.
Killed 18.2.1943. From his brother Schagofar and nephew Zolima"
* = Kabardino-Balkar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, ie he came from
Caucasus area, same
corner of the world where Finnish Waffen-SS volunteers fought in the same
time when he was killed.

"Spiess" had taken his uniform with him - or then this is
a recently discovered WW2 era color picture?
