UNTERNEHMEN EULENWALD - August 2010 training weekend
Our traditional summer training weekend was held in early August
this year.
As we respect traditions, program included a march to Mauser Höhe and back the next
morning.
Weather was exceptionally warm, temperatures reached +28°C, and this
took its toll on marching Gebirgsjäger.
Nobody fainted but the day spent in Mause
Höhe included mainly resting.
If winter temperatures in our happenings can be -30°C and summer
almost +30°C we may have
the widest possible temperature range for re-enactment!
Direction: Mauser Hill! SS-Oscha Ullrich leads the patrol
in forest road.
Small break on hot weather,
SS-Oberscharführer Ullrich is on guard while the rest of the
patrol have a drink.
Note mosquito net, a must in Finnish summer!
Cap well - all well! SS-Sturmmann
Eichen gets ready to move on.
Position of patrol is checked from map; here we left the road and
headed to forest.
Hot weather takes its toll; SS-Rottenführer
Repper taking a break.
Closing Mauser Höhe, just
one more hill to descend and another to climb - and of course cross the
swamp between them!
Finally there! Wet gear was hanged up to dry..
..drinking water fetched below the cliffs..
..and fire was lit. It was time for lunch!
And swimming! SS-Oberscharführer
Ullrich, our master swimmer, leads by example!
