GEBIRGSJÄGER BOOTS
Besides "Bergmütze" cap
and Edelweiss insignia, Gebirgsjäger can also be
identified from his heavy mountain boots.

Members of "Michael Gaissmair" are
encouraged to get proper reproduction mountain boots,
but due to high price of reproduction boots there is no actual hurry
getting the boots; normal
Schnurschuhe or Knobelbecher can be worn instead,
as these "normal" boots are seen
in many pictures of "Nord" soldiers.
Here's a pic of reproduction Gebirgsjäger

Heavy ice cleats and characteristic nails in the bottom of the shoe
Another picture of reproduction boot
This boot is an original, note size stamps and different arrangement
of nails
Close-up on the size stamp; "31" means the length of the boot in
centimeters.
Reproduction (left) and original (right); during the war many
patterns of these boots were made,
so differences in amount and shape of the irons is normal.
Best reproduction Gebirgsjäger
boots are made in EU by an master shoemaker.
If interested getting hold of a pair do get in touch with unit HQ.
