UNTERNEHMEN MAIBAUM - March to "Mauser Hill"

Members of "Michael Gaißmair" gathered to our summer training area in mid-May to start summer re-enacting season 2011
by marching to Mauser Hill and back.

The traditional march is about 7km long and goes via "Rudi-Weg" supply road and through dense forest and over rocky cliffs.

March is required to be carried out with full patrol gear, ie personal weapon, backpack with camping equipment and so on.
This year we also field-tested a lighter way to carry blanket etc - by rolling them as a Russian-type roll over one shoulder; this way
of carrying equipment did see quite a lot of use in "Nord" and can be verified from period photos.

Mauser Hill has been reached. Patrol commander SS-Unterscharführer Repper assigns his men to different tasks -
on guard, to make campfire etc - and then gets some well deserved rest.

Campfire and lunch on top of the hill

Time to head back to HQ. Suomi M/31 is a powerful weapon in forest fighting.

Return trip over Michael Höhe. Rudi-Weg can be seen in the background.

Small break on roadside

Water supply lasted well on this march - unlike in last August when the heat was enormous!

And marching continues

Crossing a field in own rear area; sauna and well-earned food is waiting!
